Why are CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin combined?

CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin are combined because they raise growth hormone through two complementary mechanisms that amplify each other. CJC-1295, as a GHRH analog, increases the amount of GH available for release and raises trough levels; Ipamorelin, as a selective ghrelin-receptor agonist, triggers a distinct GH pulse — and unlike older secretagogues, it does so with minimal effect on cortisol or prolactin. Used together, the GHRH analog and the secretagogue produce a larger, more physiological pulsatile GH release than either alone, which is the rationale behind the stack. No controlled clinical trial of the CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin combination has been published as of July 2026, but the individual components have more human data than most research peptides. CJC-1295 was tested in healthy adults in Teichman et al. 2006 (J Clin Endocrinol Metab), where single injections produced 2–10-fold increases in plasma GH sustained for six or more days and 1.5–3-fold IGF-1 elevations lasting 9–11 days (evidence level: human Phase 1/pharmacodynamic). Ipamorelin was characterised as the first selective GH secretagogue — stimulating GH release without significantly raising cortisol or prolactin — primarily in preclinical and early human work (evidence level: preclinical and early clinical). What has not been established in controlled trials is whether either compound, or the combination, produces the body-composition or recovery outcomes marketed for it.
